Parent Talks - Update 25/5/16

Recent Talk: Your Child's Physical Activity

The third talk in our “Parent Talk” series took place on Monday night, 23 May. Dr. Catherine Woods spoke on “Your Child's Physical Activity”. The talk was really well received and generated a lot of discussion on how parents and school can work together, both within and outside the curriculum, towards establishing good levels of activity and fitness for our children. We hope to make Catherine’s slides available soon for anyone who couldn’t get to the talk, in the meantime she recommends  http://www.beactiveasap.ie.

A big thank you to Catherine, who is also a parent at Greenlanes, for giving up her time to speak to us. Catherine also plans our Sports Day, so she’ll be looking for volunteers soon!

Internet Safety for Your Child - Resources

You may recall that the second talk was on Internet Safety for your child. The NPC trainer recommeded http://www.watchyourspace.ie/. We would like to draw your attention to some excellent resources the school has made available on the school website

The trainer also mentioned that we should consider installing Youtube Kids, Safe Search on Google, and set privacy setting on all social media. Most of all she stressed making ourselves aware, as parents, and leading by example in our online habits!

Again thank you to the school for facilitating us with the use of the Atrium.
