Five teachers from Greenlanes have successfully completed the Religious Education Certificate Course (Follow Me).  This course is offered by the General Synod Board of Education and was coordinated and taught by Jacqui Wilkinson (Church of Ireland Centre, DCU).

This Certificate is offered to existing teachers in Church of Ireland and other Protestant primary schools who did not undertake their initial teacher education qualifications in the former CICE. The course builds on the teachers’ prior classroom experience in teaching RE in Church of Ireland schools and aims to extend their skills, knowledge, confidence and resources in this important subject area. The teachers ended the course on Thursday 15th with a short service led by the Rev Dr Anne Lodge.

Rev Dr Lodge visited Greenlanes this morning to present the certificates to the teachers. Well done to Mr O’Sullivan, Mr Moynihan, Mrs Teeling, Ms Cawley and Ms Clinch!

The end of year CoderDojo Coolest Projects event was on Saturday in the RDS. More than 1,000 coders (Ninjas), from 17 countries presenting their tech projects they've been working on. There was a team of girls from Italy beside us and judges told us teams had come from as far as Argentina and Australia for the event. 10,000 people came to the RDS to see the projects on Saturday.

We had 4 Greenlanes pupils representing the school and our CoderDojo, presenting their projects, coded in Scratch at Greenlanes CoderDojo (and home!).

Ben Forrest, Ferdia and Naoise Watson presented their 'Snakes and Ladders' game which the judges and everybody that came to our stand loved playing.

Hugh McNally presented his 'Lynx OS' project, a mobile operating system simulator with great apps. The great news is that Hugh won first prize in the Scrarch 11 year old category! https://twitter.com/coolestprojects/status/876108063769538560
Hugh won some lovely prizes and they are richly deserved.

So we're very proud Hugh is part of our CoderDojo at Greenlanes and very proud of Ben, Ferdia and Naoise for creating their great snakes and ladders game and showing it so enthusiastically on Saturday. We hope this will inspire more coding ninjas in Greenlanes to come to CoderDojo and build awesome things.

We would like to thank everybody - teachers and staff, children, parents, volunteers, sponsors, Dublin County Council, the Scouts and the Gardai for their contribution to the Sponsored Walk.

We were fortunate to have a beautiful morning and judging from feedback everybody appears to have enjoyed the visit to Bull Island. It was a great team effort and we appreciate the engagement and enthusiasm of all in support of the school

Thanks
