Sponsored Walk - North Bull Island

sponsored-walk.gif

Dear Parents,

Our annual School Sponsored Walk will take place on Thursday 13th June from 8:45am to 12pm (noon). All children will receive their Sponsorship Card shortly. Pupils will walk with their class supervised by their teacher supported by parents.  The route is outlined below.

In advance of the walk we are looking to parents to assist. If you are free on the morning of 13th June and would like to help please let us know at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

A number of people have enquired about Garda Vetting. The Vetting Act does not apply to unpaid volunteers (such as parents) who assist the school on an occasional basis provided such assistance does not involve the coaching, mentoring, counselling, teaching or training of children or vulnerable persons. A parent who helps on an occasional and unpaid basis is therefore not subject to vetting as long as the parent is not involved in the coaching, mentoring, counselling, teaching or training of pupils. Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have any specific questions regarding vetting. We will be in touch with volunteers nearer the date with details. If you have any other questions please email Gerard O’Rourke at This email address is being protected from spambots. The children will leave the school from 8.45am and walk the following route;

  • Left onto Seafield Road

  • Left at Pedestrian Crossing onto Wooden Bride
  • Straight all the way to “Yellow Life Guard Hut” on walkway to Statute.
  • (Jnr and Snr Infants will do a shorter version and return from Dollymount Scout Den)

Parents please ensure;

  • Children should wear suitable footwear , runners are best .
  • Comfortable clothing
  • Small carry bag with shoulder strap if possible, to carry water & light snack
  • Light Rainproof type jacket.
  • Sun Factor pre-applied.
